Musketeer Monday Part One: Denese Booker

Musketeer Monday Part One: Denese Booker

The Central Islip School Community celebrates Central Islip High School Registered Nurse Mrs. Denese (Gulick) Booker as one of this week's Musketeer Monday features!

Mrs. Booker can be found in the Nurse's Office working alongside her colleagues, Nurses Nicole and Lindsey. Together, they ARE the Three Musketeers! They are also Central Islip High alumni: Mrs. Booker (Class of 2001), Nicole (Class of 2000), and Lindsey (Class of 2005).

Mrs. Booker began her career in the Central Islip School District in 2017 at Alfano Elementary School, then known as the Early Childhood Center, which housed all kindergarten and pre-k students at the time. She later transitioned to Reed Middle School, where she served students from 2017 until 2024.

Earlier this year, Mrs. Booker joined the team at Central Islip High School, where her role is multifaceted. In addition to her official duties as a Registered Nurse, Mrs. Booker takes great care in her interactions with students. She describes herself as a problem-solver, diplomat, seamstress, spirit-lifter, hugger, second mom, and even CI's fashion consultant!

When asked about the most rewarding part of her job, Mrs. Booker shared, “I get to care for and help my students become informed about their health while being a positive influence in the very same community I grew up in."

Outside the Nurse's Office, Mrs. Booker enjoys spending time with her family, from playing board games to exploring new places. She also remains active in sports, citing her favorites as softball, basketball, beach volleyball, and paddleboarding.

Mrs. Booker and her husband, also a Central Islip High graduate, have two daughters, ages 12 and 14.
