Musketeer Monday Part Two: Dave Seckeler
His motto is: "If it's broken, I fix it." He's Dave Seckler, and a feature in this week's Musketeer Monday spotlight!
Mr. Seckler began his career in Central Islip School District in 2009. His current title is Maintenance Mechanic III, and his duties are consistent with those that are reflected within his motto. He references capital improvements and enhancements made to the pool at Central Islip High School, and fields and grounds Districtwide, as the positive direction in which Central Islip School District is heading. Mr. Seckler also pointed out the complexities and scopes of duties performed by CSEA employees that are integral to the successful day-to-day operations within the School District.
In addition to holding his Maintenance Mechanic III position, Mr. Seckler is President of Central Islip School District's Civil Service Employees Association, (CSEA), a title to which he was elected by the organization's membership eight years ago, and continues to proudly represent. Mr. Seckler defined his goals representing CSEA's members of '425 strong' as their President. "I work very hard for my members, and strive for them to have financial security and job stability," Mr. Seckler explained. Mr. Seckler maintains that his future plans are to continue representing his members in order to negotiate fair and equitable contracts.
When he's not involved with his professional duties and union responsibilities, Mr. Seckler enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons, ages 17 and 11. He and his family are avid camping enthusiasts, and he enjoys watching race car driving with his son.
Fond of the CI community and its families, Mr. Seckler said, "My heart is in the right place, and I want the people to thrive."
Mechanic 4 Crew Chief and Leader/Supervisor, Mr. Salvatore Alfonso, is Mr. Seckler's immediate supervisor, and offered the following testimonial: "Dave is full of energy, and a very hard worker. He is loyal to a fault, and will go out of his way for anyone. Dave has no problem putting others' needs before his own, and he only sees the good in people."
